Chandigarh is a union territory of India. It is also the capital city of the states of Haryana and the state of Punjab.

Name: The name ‘Chandigarh” is derived from ‘The Fort of Chandi”. There is an ancient temple called Chandi Mandir.

Population: As per Census 2011, the total population of Chandigarh exceeded 10 lakhs.

Land Area: The total Land Area of Chandigarh is 114 sq.km. Chandigarh holds 33rd rank in area wise.

Language: Its Principal Languages are Hindi, Punjabi and English,

Literacy: Its Literacy Ratio is 81.9%

Climate: Chandigarh has very hot summers and mild winters with unreliable rainfall. Chandigarh experiences Spring, Autumn, Summer, Monsoon and Winter Seasons.

Clean: According to a report, Chandigarh was the ‘Cleanest City” during the year 2010.

Connectivity: This Union Territory is well connected via Roadways, Railways and Airways.
