Kerala state lies in the South-Western part of India. It is on the Malabar Coast at the left tip of peninsular India. Kerala is the place where large production of pepper and natural rubber can be seen. Some important facts about the State of Kerala is mentioned below:

Existence: On 1st November 1956, the States Re-organisation Act formed Kerala as a new state.

Boundary: Kerala is surrounded by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep Sea.

Population: As per Census 2011, the total population of Kerala is 33,387,677. Kerala holds 12th position in population wise.

Land Area:  The Land Area of Kerala is 38,863 sq.km. As per Land Area wise, Kerala holds 21st position.

Language: The Official Languages of Kerala is Malayalam and English. But Malayalam is widely spoken language of the state.

Literacy: The Literacy Ratio is 93.91%

City: Its Capital city is Thiruvananthapuram. It is also the largest city of Kerala.

District: There are 14 districts located in Kerala.

Climate: Kerala experiences wet and maritime tropical climate with an average of 120-140 rainy days per year.

Connectivity: Kerala is well connected via roadways, railways and airways. Cochin, Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram are the important domestic airports of Kerala.

Best Time: The Best time to visit Kerala is November to April.

Places of Interest: Kerala is also an important tourist destination with Beaches, Tropical Greenery, and Back-Waters etc. as the popular attractions.

Festivals: Around 10,000 festivals are celebrated in this state.

Religion: In Kerala, most of the peoples are either Hindus or Muslims or Christians and the rest 0.1% population follows other religions.
