Reticulated Python in India

Reticulated Python

Reticulated Python python is found primarily in Nicobar Islands and North-eastern states of India. It has become an endangered species because of the skin trade.

The reticulated phyton (also regal python) is the largest of all snakes found in India. It has a length of around 10 meters. It is a non-poisonous snake.  It mostly feeds on dogs, pigs, fowls, ducks, cats, etc. and is non-poisonous.

It appears similar to the rock python except that the body color is a mixture of yellow brown and black on the dorsal side, with a series of large dark brown, circular or rhomboid spots edged with black and yellow.
